Hey Everyone!

This post is going to be a fun one. “Why?” you ask.  Well it’s going to be fun because it’s all about my baby, who’s name happens to be Wrigley.  You might have guessed by now that my baby happens to be a four legged, furry ball of love.  We got Wrigley when he was 8 weeks old from a local farm and it has been love ever since.  We had his name picked out before we even met him.  When we got to the farm a huge, red and wet golden retriever met us. This was apparently Wrigley’s dad, Duke, and he was absolutely beautiful.  There were tiny red puppies running all over the yard, and we were greeted by a man who looked like he was straight out of the Beverley Hillbillies, overalls and everything!  I simply said, “I want the smartest and most well behaved one you have.”  He pointed to our Wrigley and said, “That would be the one there.”  Nick picked him up like he was a football (Nick’s never had a dog before) and Wrigley stared up into his eyes, not even wiggling in the odd position he was being held.  I almost teared up, it was so cute.  It was like Wrigley was looking up into the eyes of the man he knew would be his best friend and “dad”.  We immediately said, “We want that one!”  The very next week we were there with a check to pick him up.  He rode on my lap the whole way home and I really did cry then.  It’s funny how one little puppy can mean so much, like growing up and making your first little family.

When he was really tiny he would climb into the shower with me, even though he hated the water, just because he didn’t want to let me out of his sight.  He slept with his head on the pillow right next to mine (even though we swore we were going to train him to sleep in a cage at night)!  He was a breeze to train and even got moved up from the beginners training class to the intermediate 3/4ths of the way through at Petsmart.  He isn’t perfect though, he certainly has his bad habits, which include being scared of inanimate objects including trashcans and mailboxes, having to go poop at least 3 times when we go on a walk (and occasionally in my sister’s basement) and shying away from strangers when they catch him off guard.  But hey, if those are the worst habits he could have, I consider myself lucky.  He has been with us through everything, including our engagement and wedding. Everyone who meets him absolutely loves him, and who could blame them?  So this one is for my first “baby”, Wrigley.  We love you more than words could say!  The following pictures were taken by Kate Podjan Photography.
