Hello Everyone!  Happy Saturday!

Here is a DIY guide to making your own greeting cards.  I love to make handmade cards for the people I care about.  I think it makes the occasion that much more special.  Many of you frequent crafters will probably already have the majority of the materials on hand.

Materials:

  • Plain envelope and card (you can buy packs of these at hobby stores for around $5)
  • Card stock/scrapbook papers of your choice
  • Glue Stick
  • Double stick tape
  • Scissors (regular and patterned ones)
  • Ruler
  • Ribbon
  • Stickers of your choice

Here is what you start with (card, envelope and papers)

Cut and add one of your patterned papers to the edges of your card with double-sided tape.

Measure, cut and add another patterned paper to the middle of the card using double-sided tape

Measure, cut and add another patterned paper to the center of your card horizontally then do the same with your plain colored cardstock (making it just a little smaller) using double sided tape.

Use your patterned scissors to cut out a pretty border for the bottom of the plain cardstock and attach with double-sided tape.  Then measure and cut out ribbon to go across the middle and tuck the ends inside the front of the card and the first pieces of paper you used (black and brown stripe).  Attach the whole ribbon using double-sided tape.

After that go ahead and attach all of your stickers and accessories.   Making a card is just like layering your favorite outfit, the more layers and details you add, the more depth and interest you get. Voila! You have a handmade card that is personalized and pretty!
